Alno Ribbon & Reed Collection cabinet hardware
The Alno Ribbon & Reed Collection is a traditional decorative line defined by a fluted, ribbon-wrapped reed motif running along each piece. The reeded banding is the signature, giving the hardware a tailored, classical texture that reads as cabinetmaker's detailing. It is a restoration-grade family rather than a plain one.
What identifies the Ribbon & Reed look
Pieces carry parallel reeded grooves bound by a raised ribbon detail, a pattern repeated across the knob, the bar pull, a 3-inch cup pull, and three backplate sizes. The backplates, including a 1-5/8-inch and a 4-1/4-inch, let you mount the knob or pull over a decorative shield for a more furniture-like result. Finishes lean warm and period-correct: polished brass, unlacquered brass, antique English, polished antique, plus satin nickel for a cooler take. The variety of backplates is unusual and is a large part of why this line reads as authentic to older work.
Buying considerations
This line fits traditional, English-country, and period kitchens, butler's pantries, and dressing rooms where hardware should look like joinery rather than catalog metal. The cup pull suits drawers while the knob-and-backplate combination dresses doors. Unlacquered brass will shift tone with handling over the years, so choose it only if an aging surface is wanted; polished brass stays bright and formal. Mixing the knob, cup pull, and backplates within one finish keeps a coordinated antique look across doors and drawers. The reeded grooves also hide minor wear better than a smooth face. Decide on backplates early, since they change both the footprint and the installation.
