Refund policy

We work hard to make returns rare — by helping you choose the right hardware and by offering an easy sample program so you can see pieces in person before you commit. When a return is needed, here is how it works.

Return window
Most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, in their original unopened packaging.

Restocking fee
A 25% restocking fee applies to standard returns, to cover handling and warehouse costs. The restocking fee is waived if any of the following apply:

  • The item arrived defective or damaged.
  • The wrong item was shipped because of an error on our end.
  • You are placing a replacement order of equal or greater value — just ask us to waive it.

Free-shipping subsidy
If your order shipped with free shipping, the $9.95 shipping subsidy is deducted from your refund or store credit.

Items that cannot be returned

  • Made-to-order and handcrafted lines — including Anne at Home and Edgar Berebi — except in the case of a material defect.
  • Items that have been installed or show signs of installation.
  • Items the manufacturer has discontinued.
  • Free or promotional gifts.
  • Mailed samples (these are handled separately under our Sample Refund Program).

Returns after 30 days
After 30 days, returns are considered case by case and depend on whether the manufacturer will accept the item back. When granted, these returns are issued as store credit only.

How to start a return
Email cs@knobs.co or call 1-800-530-8245 within the 30-day window with your order number and the item(s) you would like to return. We will issue a Return Authorization (RA) number and the return address — returns sent without an RA number cannot be processed. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the return is due to a defect or our error, in which case we provide a prepaid label.

Damaged or defective on arrival
Please inspect your order on delivery. Report visible shipping damage within 48 hours of delivery, and concealed damage or defects within 14 days, to cs@knobs.co or 1-800-530-8245, and we will make it right.

Refund timing
Once we receive and inspect your return, we issue the refund to your original payment method within 3–5 business days. Your bank may take an additional 2–7 business days to post the credit.

Exchanges
The fastest way to get the right hardware is to place a new order for the item you want and return the original. We are happy to walk you through it.
