Round knobs are the most-installed shape in cabinet hardware. The form is a circular face with a stem behind it that takes a single screw. The user grips the knob between thumb and finger to open the cabinet. The circular footprint is forgiving on installation (a slight rotation during mount doesn't show) and visually neutral enough to work across nearly any cabinet style from traditional to modern without conflict.

Why the shape works so widely

A circle has no orientation, which means a round knob never reads upside-down or misaligned. The shape sits comfortably on any door regardless of panel detail. Across styles, the only thing that really shifts is the knob's surface treatment. Round knob diameters typically run from about 3/4 inch up to 1-1/2 inches, with 1 inch and 1-1/4 inch the most common. The diameter sets the visual weight of the knob more than any other dimension. But the round knob's circular footprint makes a same-diameter knob look slightly less bulky than a same-width square knob in the same room.
