Berenson Statler Collection

Statler is a backplate collection, not a standalone line of knobs or pulls. Each design in the line is a cutout backplate in zinc, cast in a contemporary geometric pattern and sized to sit behind hardware you already own or are ordering separately from another Berenson collection.

What a cutout backplate does

A cutout backplate mounts behind a pull, with an opening cut into the plate so the pull's mounting screws reach through both the backplate and the cabinet door. It covers old screw holes from a previous hardware style and adds a finished, layered look behind whatever bar pull sits in front of it. Statler's design is a modern geometric cutout, a sharp contrast to the scrollwork found on more traditional backplate lines.

Sizes and finishes

Statler backplates come in four center-to-center lengths, 96mm, 128mm, 160mm, and 224mm, matched to standard pull spacing, so choosing the right size mostly comes down to measuring the pull it will sit behind. Three finishes are available: matte black, brushed nickel, and a warm brushed gold. Matte black feels the boldest and most modern of the group; brushed nickel and brushed gold both soften the geometric cutout slightly by catching more light.

Pairing Statler with a pull

Because Statler is backplates only, it has to be paired with a compatible bar pull, matched on finish and center-to-center length. Plate and pull ship as two separate purchases. When a backplate makes sense for a remodel

Backplates like Statler solve a specific problem: swapping pull styles without patching and refinishing a cabinet door.
