Edgar Berebi Arts & Craft pewter hardware

Edgar Berebi's Arts & Craft line casts three Prairie School motifs in pewter: a broad ginkgo leaf numbered 8185 through 8213, an oak-branch design called Oak Park, and a compact pinecone cluster. Ginkgo and Oak Park each fill out both a knob size and a pull size; pinecone stays smaller, showing up mostly as a lone accent.

Telling the three motifs apart

Ginkgo presses its fan-shaped leaf flat against the door, keeping a full drawer bank from sticking out too far. Oak Park carries deeper relief — branch and acorn detail stands proud enough to throw shadow under undercabinet lights. Pinecone stays smallest of the trio, its scale working best as one standalone knob on a single door, not stretched across every drawer front in a room.

Picking knobs, pulls, and a backplate

Only Ginkgo ships with a backplate option here, piece 8211, useful where old screw holes need covering on a door keeping its existing hardware spacing. Oak Park's pull, 8204 and 8207, fits standard drawer widths, paired with a round Oak Park knob for doors nearby. Pull a sample of each piece first: pewter's cast texture carries noticeably more heft in a hand than any photograph shows.

Rooms where the carving belongs

Quarter-sawn oak, exposed ceiling beams, bungalow trim work — these give the botanical detail something period to answer to. Set against flat white shaker doors without another Craftsman cue anywhere in the room, that same carving can look stranded rather than intentional. Left unlacquered, pewter darkens gradually inside the leaf veins and branch grooves as hands touch it year after year. A light dusting is usually all the upkeep any piece here ever needs.
