Escutcheon Plates for Doors and Cabinets

Escutcheons are the plates that sit behind a door lever, knob, or lock cylinder, hiding the hole bored through the door and anchoring the hardware in place. Knobs.co lists them here as their own category, apart from the cabinet hardware and full door sets they're sometimes sold with, so anyone replacing a plate on its own can find it without hunting through a bigger listing. Shapes and sizes worth checking first

Square escutcheons here span roughly 2 5/8" up to 5 1/2" per side, with a few labeled "Designer" that carry a slightly more detailed edge profile than the standard square. Round versions run smaller, mostly in the 2 1/4" to 3 1/2" range, and sit quieter on a door since there's no corner to grab attention. Rectangular escutcheons, sized closer to 2 1/2" x 4 1/2", tend to show up where a knob shares one plate with a keyed lock rather than sitting on separate hardware.

Matching what's already on the door

Measure the plate that's currently mounted before ordering, not just the lever or knob resting above it. Screw spacing and the diameter of the center hole vary by shape, and a plate that's a half inch off in either dimension won't sit flush once mounted. If the existing hardware still works and only the plate has worn or scratched, buying the escutcheon alone is usually the simpler fix, cheaper than swapping out a full functioning knob or lever set.
