Dark antique bronze, framed around inlaid shell

Dark antique bronze cabinet hardware carries more black in the recesses than a lighter antique bronze does, near-black in the grooves, warmer brown on the raised surfaces. Schaub and Company supplies most of it, and much of that pairs the metal with an inlaid shell instead of leaving it bare. The effect reads as inherited rather than newly plated, closer to hardware pulled from an old house than something fresh off a production line. Knob diameters here range enough to suit both an upper cabinet and a heavier drawer front, without needing a second finish to bridge the gap.

Tiger Penshell and Avalon Bay set shell into metal

Tiger Penshell sets a mottled shell panel into a square or round surround; Avalon Bay repeats the idea with an imperial shell inset into both a knob and its companion pull. Bronze frames the shell in both cases instead of covering it. Because the shell is organic, no two pieces stripe identically, so a full run of Tiger Penshell knobs shows natural variation door to door.

Sonata skips the shell

Sonata sticks to plain cast metal, round knobs from 1-1/4 inches to 1-5/16 inches, with a backplate finished in a star pattern behind a smaller knob. It's the quieter of the two design paths here, useful anywhere the shell pieces would compete with an already busy backsplash or a heavily veined stone counter. A kitchen mixing Sonata knobs with the shell-inlaid Avalon Bay pull gets two design registers in one finish, useful for an island that wants a plainer knob against busier drawer pulls nearby.

One step darker than standard bronze

For a lighter, more uniform brown without the near-black shadow in the recesses, look at standard bronze. Anyone matching only a few replacement pieces should request a sample first; aging finishes like this vary more between manufacturers than a flat plated color ever would.
