Dark Glaze Cabinet Hardware

Dark glaze cabinet hardware, Cantata's deepest option

Dark glaze cabinet hardware belongs to Schaub and Company's Cantata line, wearing the darkest surface treatment the collection offers. A worked patina sits over the cast metal here, not a sprayed-on flat color, and every Cantata shape, oval knob, round knob, oblong knob, plus pulls in three lengths, carries it.

How glazing changes cast metal

The glaze pools heavier inside a casting's recesses than it does across the raised surfaces, so ornamental detail keeps its depth instead of flattening into a single shade. Cantata's shapes were designed with that unevenness in mind; it registers as age, not a defect. Order two of the same knob from separate production runs and the shading might not match exactly, an expected outcome of hand glazing rather than a defect worth returning over.

Cantata's Dark Glaze size chart

• Pull, 5-inch centers
• Pull, 8-inch centers
• Pull, 12-inch centers
• Oblong knob, close to 7/8 by 2 inches
• Round knob, roughly 1-1/4 inch diameter
• Oval knob, close to 1-1/4 by 2 inches

That spread covers a small drawer front on one end and a broad pantry or appliance door on the other, all without pulling in a second Schaub finish anywhere in the order. A kitchen renovation that needs both ends of that range can stick with Cantata start to finish.

Where dark glaze fits among Cantata's finishes

Cantata also comes in lighter, brighter tones under different finish names; dark glaze is the pick when the ornate shape needs to sit quietly rather than throw reflection back across the kitchen. Kitchens built around an old-world or heavily traditional look tend to favor it, since a mirror-bright surface there would fight the ornament rather than support it. For a metal character that departs from bronze entirely, Schaub sells the identical silhouette in brass, and a cooler traditional read shows up under Schaub's bronze line.
