Distressed bronze, and what makes it different

Distressed bronze is a warm, uneven cabinet hardware finish, intentionally built to look hand-worked rather than machine-polished. Schaub and Company offers its full Traditional line in this treatment — cup pulls, standard pulls, appliance pulls, and matching mortise and non-mortise hinges all wear the same texture, so an entire set stays consistent from pull to hinge instead of mixing a distressed handle with a plain, uniform hinge. The Traditional pulls alone span several lengths on their own, starting around a compact 3-inch cup pull and reaching a 15-inch appliance pull, all carrying the same worked surface.

Where it reads best

The uneven, worked surface reads at home in traditional, old-world-style kitchens, and it suits anyone chasing a warmer, hand-worked feel without matte black's harder contrast. It sits warmer and less uniform than a standard brushed bronze finish, closer to something that's been handled for years already than to a finish fresh off the line, which is exactly the point of a distressed treatment. It also tends to hide small dings and daily wear better than a smooth polished bronze would, since the surface is already irregular to begin with.

A full-set option, and a tradeoff to expect

Because Schaub's matching hinges share this treatment with the cup and standard pulls, a full cabinet door can carry one consistent look, right down to the hardware most people never consciously notice. Tone can shift a little between pieces, since hand-distressing resists the exact repeatability of a plated finish, so two pulls made in separate production runs may not match perfectly once mounted next to each other.

Other bronze and black options

A more even, less textured bronze tone lives in the standard bronze collection. For a cooler, higher-contrast option, the black collection fits better, especially if the room already leans toward darker, more modern hardware.
