Modern brushed gold paired with matte black cabinet hardware: mixing metals on purpose

This finish pairs matte black with modern brushed gold on a single pull instead of asking you to choose one metal. Berenson builds the combination into its Studio Remix and Rivet Rebel lines: a matte black body set against modern brushed gold posts, end caps, or accents, in stainless steel and aluminum construction depending on which line you choose.

The appeal of two-tone hardware to designers

Mixed-metal hardware lets a kitchen carry both a cooler, matte black cabinet frame and warmer brass or gold fixtures elsewhere, whether that's a faucet, lighting, or appliance trim, without forcing every metal in the room to match exactly. The black does the structural work of the pull; the gold reads as a jewelry-like detail rather than the dominant color.

Two lines, two constructions

Studio Remix is stainless steel and leans contemporary, with clean bar pulls sized from 96mm through 128mm, then 160mm, and separately 192mm centers, plus a matching appliance pull sized at 12 inches for wider drawers and cabinet panels. Rivet Rebel is built from aluminum and reads more transitional, with a black bar finished matte and set against exposed brushed gold posts at the mounting points, sized similarly from 96mm up through a matching 12-inch pull for panels.

Where it works and where it doesn't

Two-tone finishes ask more of a kitchen's other metals than a single-finish pull does, so let one metal lead everywhere else in the space, either gold fixtures or black fixtures, instead of splitting the two evenly. A kitchen with no other gold or brass present can still use this finish, but the gold accent will read as a more intentional design choice than a coordinated one.

Comparing to single-tone options

For an all-black alternative, see black; for warm gold on its own, gold skips the mixed-metal decision entirely.
