Verdi Imperiale cabinet hardware: a patina finish with a story

The Verdi Imperiale name comes straight from verdigris, and so does the greenish cast — the blue-green patina that forms naturally on aged bronze and copper over decades of exposure. Rather than waiting on the real thing, the finish reproduces that weathered coloring on new hardware, giving new knobs and pulls the look of old metal that's spent years outdoors or in a humid kitchen without any of the actual corrosion.

This tone lives inside Schaub's Mountain collection, and it splits into two looks worth knowing apart. The plain Mountain pulls and knobs — sized as a 1-3/8 inch round knob, a 1-7/8 inch oval knob, a 12-to-18-inch appliance pull, plus a cup pull — carry a smoother patina surface. A second set within the same line, labeled Twig, adds a bark-like texture to the pull shapes and the appliance pulls, which leans further into the rustic-lodge look than the smooth versions do. Note that Schaub's own product titles spell it "Verde Imperiale," so don't be thrown if you see that spelling on a packing slip or invoice; it's the same finish under both names.

Where it fits

This green-bronze tone suits lodge, rustic, and heritage European kitchens, especially alongside natural stone counters, dark-stained wood, and other patina metals such as a weathered copper hood over the range or a hammered copper sink. It's a harder match in a bright, contemporary white-cabinet kitchen, where the aged coloring fights the rest of the space rather than blending in, the way it settles naturally into a more rustic, wood-toned setting.
