Square bronze tile, set one square at a time

Frames cabinet hardware covers square bronze tiles, most cut to a 4 inch face, meant to interrupt a field of ceramic rather than run its edge. Swap one of these into a standard grid layout and the spacing around it barely changes, since the footprint matches a typical field tile almost exactly. Every piece here traces back to the same Rocky Mountain casting shop, which keeps the bronze tone matched between every square in an order.

Stud, offset, or curve

Rivets raises a grid of studs across the face; Rivets Beveled repeats that same stud grid but angles the outer edge back on a slant. Offset shifts its surface detail toward one side instead of centering it, breaking the mirror symmetry a square tile usually carries. Quarter Circles abandons the square shape outright, its 3 inch face built around one curved corner cut, the single exception in the set. Choosing among this set is mostly a question of how busy the surface should read up close.

Sides plain or Sides beveled

Sides keeps a flat surface with texture confined to its outer border, leaving the center open. Sides Beveled takes that same border detail and angles it back instead of meeting the wall square-on, throwing a faint shadow at the angled edge that the flat version can't produce once several sit together in a run. That shadow lengthens and shrinks as the afternoon light angle changes across the kitchen.

Scatter one, or tile a whole run

Set alone above a range hood or dropped into a shower recess, one square becomes a single decorative moment. Repeat the same pattern across an entire field instead and the effect shifts closer to a printed surface than an accent, worth deciding before ordering the quantity a full wall needs. A single sample piece, held up to the actual wall, settles that question faster than any photo can.
