How full escutcheon door sets work

A full escutcheon door set puts the lever, the plate, and usually a deadbolt cylinder on one continuous piece of trim instead of three separate parts bought apart. That single-plate design is common on entry doors, where the lever handles daily use and the deadbolt above it handles security, both mounted through the same rectangular or rounded plate. Choosing a shape for the door's style

Rectangular sets, the largest group here, suit doors with square or minimally detailed trim, since the straight-edged plate doesn't compete with existing lines. Paris and Oasis, both narrower and slightly more shaped at the ends, read softer and work better against a door with some carved or paneled detail already in place. Neither shape changes the way the lock operates, only how the trim sits against the door face.

Patio Set Compared With Entry Set

Patio Set is built at its own width for sliding and French doors, where the opening is often narrower than a standard entry slab, while Entry Set and its Express version target a full-size front door. Picking the wrong one for the opening usually leaves a plate that overhangs the stile or crowds the door's edge, so getting the set right for the door type counts for just as much as getting the finish right.

What "C-C" tells you before ordering

That center-to-center number, listed on several sets and most often 5 1/2", tells you how far apart the lever's hole and the deadbolt's hole sit on the plate. Existing doors already have that spacing cut, so a replacement set needs to match it exactly rather than the closest available size, or the new plate won't cover the old holes. When an older door's original hardware doesn't list the spacing, measuring straight across from one existing hole to the other is a more reliable check than working backward from the door's age or style. It's a five-minute step that avoids a return once the new set arrives and doesn't line up.

Deadbolt included, or ordered separately

Most sets here bundle the deadbolt cylinder into the plate as a single piece, which keeps the finish and screw pattern matching between lever and lock. That's worth confirming before ordering if an existing deadbolt is being kept in place, since pairing a bundled set with a standalone deadbolt sourced separately can leave two slightly different metal tones across one door.
