Strap Hinges for Rustic and Custom Door Hardware

A strap hinge mounts across the face of a door rather than hiding inside a mortise cut into the edge, which is why it turns up on board-and-batten doors, barn-style doors, and cabinet fronts built in a lodge aesthetic. The finial as a finishing detail

The ball finial cap sits at eye level on the exposed barrel and reads as its own small design decision, separate from the strap itself. Ordering it in the same finish as the strap keeps the hinge looking like one piece rather than two parts pulled from different batches. Since Rocky Mountain casts both in bronze, the finial and strap develop their patina together at roughly the same rate once installed and handled over time.
