Rectangular, Paris, and Metro interior door plates

Interior door sets from Rocky Mountain Hardware come in three plate patterns: the plain Rectangular line, the more ornamental Paris pattern, and Metro's flatter geometric plate. Each pairs a lever with its rose in one order, sized for hallways, closets, bedrooms, and baths rather than a home's entry. Every style is available as a passage version with no lock, or a privacy version that adds one.

Deciding passage or privacy first

A passage set turns without locking on either side, right for a linen closet, a pantry, or a home office door that just needs to open and shut. A privacy set adds a small turn mechanism on the interior face, meant for use on a bedroom or bath door, with most versions including a way to release the lock from outside in an emergency. That function decision stands apart from which plate pattern gets ordered.

Reading the three plate patterns

Rectangular stays plainest, a straight-edged plate with no applied detail, suited to a house going for quiet, consistent hardware throughout. Paris raises a more traditional edge treatment on the same basic footprint. Metro flattens the shape into something closer to geometric, landing as the most contemporary of the three. Rectangular also spans the widest size range, starting small enough for a tight privacy door and stretching up to a longer option shared with Metro.

A shared size across two lines

Rectangular and Metro overlap at one length, so a project can move between those two patterns without a plate-size change, only a different finish and edge detail. Measuring the current lever's rose or plate against the door is the safest step to take ahead of any purchase, especially on a house whose existing hardware predates any of these three lines.
